Lady with a lovely name – Davina

On our way to the bottom we discovered that the vis is not very good and we had to navigate with the compass. After 3 minutes only I spotted the shade of the Lady! And O Miracle! The light came from the sky and the wreck was in it full length in front of us. Beautiful in the light with a lot of colours and marine live.

Why Cirkewwa ?

CIRKEWWA probably has given most of us special memories or moments, whether these be our very first dive as trainees, our first holiday dive ever, the first drop off; hunting little thunny or tuna or amberjacks, or being surrounded by hundreds of barracudas.

For me it has been many of these and I know that once I start recalling the best experience, I will surly find another best.

That is the magic of Cirkewwa!

Observations on Cirkewwa – part of the efforts to make it a Marine Sanctuary

For the past 25 years the amateur and professional Diving Community of Malta, including the 60,000 diving tourists annually, have been writing and arguing in favor of declaring this gem of Biodiversity to be protected and declared a marine sanctuary.
Since joining the EU Cirkewwa has become a defacto protected area by way of a law prohibiting all types of fishing around wrecks.

SS MARGIT – a truly UK style dive in Malta

The wind was not playing fair and gusting around the island all week making the sea swell hitting many of the dive sites and render undiveable! The wreck of the SS MARGIT was our choice for Saturdays dive.Lying now peacefully in Kalkara Creek she is one of Malta’s many war time casualties a truly great dive for those who enjoy the lower end of the “Vis” spectrum in Malta.
